Zen-Nihon Pro Wrestling: Fight da Pon! (1994) was an unusual spin-off for the Super Famicom, blending AJPW wrestlers with puzzle gameplay. Instead of traditional grappling, matches were resolved through falling-block puzzle battles where combos equated to wrestling moves. It was an experiment in merging wrestling branding with non-wrestling mechanics, targeting a broader casual audience.
The roster included recognizable AJPW stars, but they were presented in chibi form, with matches framed as playful puzzle contests. The mechanics were similar to titles like Puyo Puyo, with successful combos dealing “damage” to opponents until one was defeated.
Though unconventional, Fight da Pon! is remembered as a quirky experiment. It highlighted how flexible wrestling branding could be in the ’90s and remains a cult collectible for its unusual approach to mixing genres.
