Game Description

Extreme Warfare Revenge (2002), often called EWR, was Adam Ryland’s landmark booking simulator that revolutionized wrestling management games. Unlike arcade or console titles, it was entirely text-based, focusing on the behind-the-scenes strategy of running a wrestling promotion. Players booked matches, negotiated contracts, managed finances, and competed for ratings against rival companies.

Its depth was unmatched for the time. Wrestlers had popularity, skills, and morale, all influencing show quality and audience reception. Booking feuds and balancing talent morale became critical challenges. The community embraced EWR with custom mods, real-world rosters, and scenarios that allowed fans to simulate WWE, WCW, ECW, or fantasy promotions. It became the foundation for the later Total Extreme Wrestling (TEW) series.

EWR remains one of the most influential fan-driven wrestling games ever made, remembered for its depth, replayability, and role in popularizing wrestling management sims.
