Wrestling MPire (2004) was Mat Dickie’s ambitious indie project that combined booking simulation with in-ring action. Players could run a promotion, sign wrestlers, and then actually play out matches using MDickie’s rough but chaotic 3D engine. It gave unprecedented freedom for fans to create and control their own wrestling universe.
Though visually crude and mechanically clunky, its customization options were immense. Players could edit wrestlers, arenas, and even entire federations. Wrestling MPire’s sandbox nature built a dedicated cult following and set the stage for MDickie’s later successes with Wrestling Revolution and Wrestling Empire.
